20 Reasons To Watch Nottingham Rugby

Here at Nottingham Rugby, we think we have something very special to offer local sports fans. Here are just a few reasons why you should head down to Lady Bay this season.

#1 – Have a beer whilst watching the action

You can take your drinks to your seats, onto the terraces, or on the side of the pitch here at The Bay, and enjoy the game as nature intended.

#2 – Best bar in the city’s sporting quarter

You’ll be greeted by our Welsh, rugby-loving, bar manager Matt and his team, and then be given a great choice of quality beers, wines and spirits.

#3 – Best networking in town

We offer the opportunity for your business to entertain your clients or staff in what is the best networking venue in Nottingham. Whether it’s one of our popular Construction, or City, Nights, or just enjoying a Sunday lunchtime roast, we’ll ensure that you and your guests will have a memorable experience.

#4 – Kids love it!

Whether they’re throwing a ball around by the side of the pitch, high-fiving Archie the Stag, or stopping players for autographs outside the changing rooms, children are very welcome at The Bay and they love the experience and freedom they get here.

#5 – 100% commitment

Many sportsmen are criticised for their mercenary like attitudes, their prima donna-like over-inflated egos and lack of loyalty to their clubs. Whatever the weather, whatever the opposition, whatever the result, you are guaranteed nothing less than 100% commitment from a Nottingham Rugby side, as they put their bodies on the line and push themselves to their limits, week in, week out.

#6 – Value for money

Quite simply, we continue to offer the best value, professional sporting experience in the East Midlands, with adult tickets starting from just £13 and Free Standing Season Tickets available to all Under-16s.

#7 – We’re your big Friday night out

There’s no better place to spend your Friday night than down at The Bay with your friends or family. Grab a drink to two, or one of our delicious homemade pies, and enjoy our unique atmosphere under the Friday night lights.

#8 – It’s better than watching rugby on TV

We offer rugby without the ad-breaks, annoying pundits or commentators.

No amount of camera angles, replays or analysis graphics can beat the feeling of live rugby and the opportunity to say “I was there!”

#9 – Stand Up and Be Counted

In an age of soulless, all-seater mega-bowls, for many, the opportunity to stand and cheer on your team is a thing of the past.

You can catch all the action from our terracing, or get real close to the action, stood directly around the edge of our pitch.

#10 – Local talent

The club, alongside it’s academy and it’s strong links with Nottingham Trent University, has its foundations in local clubs, schools and colleges, constantly looking to develop the next generation of local rugby talent. Former Mansfield flanker Tom Calladine, ex-Newark lock Morgan Eames and current star Josh Poullet, formerly of Paviors, are all recent examples.

#11 – You directly contribute to the club’s success

Every supporter that buys a match ticket, a programme, or a drink at the bar, really does help to make a difference to the club, making you an investor and not just another number.

#12 – Family bonding

Catching a game of rugby is the perfect way of spending some quality time outdoors with the whole family, without the foul language and bad behaviour that can be associated with other team sports.

#13 – Culture of respect

Both on and off the pitch, we’re proud of the culture that surrounds this fantastic game. You can mingle with visiting supporters in our stands, terracing or bar, and whilst players and supporters might not always agree with the match officials’ decisions, they do so in a sportsman-like manner.

#14 – Meet new people

We’re an approachable bunch here at The Bay and every one of us have made friends for life here, thanks to this fantastic club.

#15 – Owners

You’ll struggle to find any American oil barons or Arab billionaires at The Bay. All our board members live and work locally and are very much part of the wider Midlands rugby community.

#16 – Community

We are a community club in every sense of the word and we pride ourselves on our strong community links with local clubs, schools, colleges and universities, as well as local councils and our home at Lady Bay in West Bridgford.

#17 – Watch a high-standard of professional rugby

Nottingham Rugby are a full-professional rugby club, playing in the Greene King IPA Championship, with a squad boasting current international players, promising local talent and Premiership and international stars of the future. Remember – you saw them here first!

#18 – Our volunteers

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the club. Without them, we could not offer our current match day experience at The Bay, and we are eternally grateful for their support.

#19 – Our history

We have a rich and proud history, dating back over 140 years. From the early-England pioneers such as VH Cartwright and Harold Hodges, to the heroes of the 1980’s, such as Brian Moore, Rob Andrew, Gary Rees, Chris Oti and Simon Hodgkinson.

#20 – You’re part of the team

Whether is being in with a hair’s breadth of where the action is taking place on the park, chatting to the players as they head to the changing rooms after a match, or having a post-match drink alongside the coaches in Archer’s Bar, Nottingham supporters matter just as much as the players and staff and we are all ‘Part of the Team’.
