Today (Tuesday 25 July 2017), British Triathlon has announced ALDI as the Official Supermarket Sponsor of the British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup taking place in Nottingham on 2 September 2017.
Britain’s best value for money supermarket has chosen to sponsor the inaugural hosting of the event following their successful relationship with last month’s Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds, where ALDI’s Team GB ambassadors and two of Great Britain’s sporting heroes, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee delivered a one-two finish in front of a home crowd.
The British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup will see 20 British and international teams compete along Nottingham’s Victoria Embankment, swimming through the River Trent and racing across Trent Bridge, before crossing the finish line on Victoria Embankment.
The triathlon mixed relay is one of the most exciting innovations in the sport’s history and having recently been confirmed for the Tokyo 2020 sport programme, the event in Nottingham epitomises Aldi’s values of supporting the ‘Best of British’ who will go head to head with some of the best international stars.
ALDI is supporting an event that will see teams of two men and two women, each completing a mini triathlon before tagging their teammate to do the same. The fast and furious racing style has seen the ITU World Championship race in Hamburg attract up to 250,000 spectators in the past, and the hope is that triathlon fans from the East Midlands and further afield will line the streets to capture the action later this year.

The 2017 British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup takes place on 2 September in Nottingham and is organised by British Triathlon in partnership with Nottingham City Council.
