A Beeston man who befriended a young woman on the street then sexually assaulted her has been locked up for 20 months.

Awais Hussain, 20, of Baslow Drive, Beeston received a detention order at Nottingham Crown Court today (Friday 25 November) having pleaded guilty on 11 October. He was also placed on the sexual offenders register for 10 years.

The court heard how Hussain approached the 19-year-old as she walked home from a night out on Thursday 30 June. When she became wary of him, he grabbed her then sexually assaulted her.

She had politely pushed him away on one occasion but he refused to take no for an answer. We are happy with the outcome and hope the victim can find comfort in knowing Hussain is now behind bars.”
