Police are appealing for information after an 82-year-old woman had a gold neck chain stolen by distraction thieves.
The incident happened in Birchover Road, Bilborough, at 12.30pm on Wednesday 16 November 2016
The woman was waiting for a bus in Birchover Road, near to Westwick Road, when she was approached by a light grey or silver coloured four-door saloon car.
The female front seat passenger asked for directions to the QMC and alighted from the vehicle and placed a plastic gold necklace over the victim’s head as a token of thanks. This distracted the victim while the suspect removed her 18ct gold sovereign neck chain.
The vehicle was then driven off towards Bracebridge Drive. There were three occupants in the vehicle, who were described as being of Eastern European appearance.

To avoid becoming the victim of jewellery theft, Nottinghamshire Police advise members of the public to:
· Insure your jewellery. If it is already insured, is your policy up-to-date?
· Photograph your pieces and upload them to website of Immobilise – the UK national property register – so, if they are lost or stolen, you stand a better chance of getting them back.
· Be discreet with your jewellery in crowded, public places. Don’t make yourself a target for an opportunist thief.
