Lady Bay Gardening Group

The Lady Bay Gardening Group is a thriving group of gardening enthusiasts, beginners and more experienced alike, who enjoy meeting up every month to hear knowledgeable speakers – and to swap tips and ideas. See details of meetings and speakers.

The venue is All Hallows Church on Pierrepont Road, Lady Bay and meetings are on the 1st Monday of every month (September to April) at 8pm.  There is a speaker at every meeting (except in December when we have our Christmas Party and a fiendishly difficult Quiz!), after which the group socialises over a cup of tea.

During the summer we don’t have regular meetings as everyone is far too busy in their gardens!  However, we enjoy a couple of group outings to local gardens and usually arrange a coach trip to a more long-distance venue.

Events

Monday 5th January – “Plant Propogation” with Mike Davey – a range of plants at home, commercially and in the laboratory, with examples of easy and difficult specimens.
Monday 2nd February – “The History and Development of the Japanese Garden” with Patsy Raynor – the influence of Japan’s seasons, topography, religion etc on garden design, and the Japanese way of life.
Monday 2nd March “The Victorian heritage of St Ann’s Allotments and Gardens.”
Monday 13th April TBC

There is an annual subscription of £5 for group membership, plus £3 per month for each meeting, payable on the night – and visitors are welcome to come along to try us out on a ‘pay as you go’ basis of £4 per meeting.
