A Nottingham hairdresser, who learned his trade as a teenager, is celebrating the 30th anniversary since opening his business – Individuals Hair in West Bridgford.
Driven by inspiration
Andrew Burton fulfilled his dream of opening his salon in 1988. He had already completed his apprenticeship and worked as a young stylist in West Bridgford before going out on his own as a mobile stylist. But an intense cutting course at Vidal Sassoon in London persuaded him that it was time to open his very own salon.
But what name could sum up just what hairdressing meant to him? There were so many salons that seemed to be impersonal production lines with no real connection to their clients.
Then he came up with the name that would drive haircutting and colouring forward in West Bridgford – Individuals.
The business started on Gordon Road and still runs there today.
Andrew’s celebrating this milestone with his business partner Emma, who’s yet another success story. After joining Individuals in 1989 as a Saturday girl, Emma decided to become an apprentice when she left school. She gained a wealth of experience from Andrew and his team and also completed an intense cutting course at Vidal Sassoon. So it was no surprise when Andrew and Emma realised what a great team they were and became business partners some years later.
Onwards and upwards…
With its hard working team and many loyal and long-standing clients, the salon soon became very well known for its professional yet friendly atmosphere, as well as its precision haircutting and innovative hair colouring techniques. And it’s recently expanded, offering more personalised beauty treatments such as eyebrow microblading.
Andrew, Emma and the team would like to thank all their clients for their support and loyalty over the years.
