Man in hospital after being tasered in robbery incident in Nottingham

A city centre road has been closed after a man became unwell after being detained by police in connection with a robbery.

Waverley Street, which is also a tram route, is closed between the junctions with Peel Street and Cromwell Street after a cordon was put in place at the scene of the arrest.

We had received a report of a knife-point robbery in Talbot Street at 1.50am today, when a man had a mobile phone taken.

Officers investigating the offence arrested two men, one of which was in Waverley Street where a taser was used to detain him.

The man was subsequently taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre.

A police officer was also injured during the incident.
