Nottingham businesses compete in Fraser Brown’s charity rounders day

Nottingham-based Fraser Brown Solicitors held its third annual rounders tournament last week, raising over £900 for the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre in Nottingham

The tournament, which took place at the Old Nottinghamians RFC ground on Adbolton Lane, had eight teams made up of local firms including, FHP, Santander Bank, Mazars, Brewin Dolphin, Innes England, Royal Bank of Scotland, Smith Cooper Accountants and Fraser Brown.

Each team paid an entry fee and enjoyed a raffle, with all money raised going to charity. Prizes included bottles of champagne, gift hampers, vouchers, tennis rackets, fitness passes and family tickets to Nottingham Rugby home league games.

Marcus-Adam Tuck from Fraser Brown, who helped organise the tournament, said: “This tournament has become an established and much anticipated event in the work-social calendar.

The teams battled it out with FHP taking home the trophy winning by half a point.

“It is great to see so many young professionals from Nottingham coming together, enjoying sport and raising money for a worthy cause.”

All of the participants, who helped raise a fantastic £900 for the research centre, enjoyed a drinks reception, as well as authentic Indian dishes supplied by Desi Downtown Restaurant after the games.

 

The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, which is Fraser Brown’s charity of the year, is a purpose built scientific facility that aims to save lives and speed recovery by improving the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Stephen Knott from the centre, said: “I’d like to thank Fraser Brown Solicitors for their continued support and fundraising efforts throughout 2017 so far, the rounders tournament helped raise vital funds which will enable our life saving work at the research centre to continue. It was great that so many of our friends took part.
