Nottingham-based Fraser Brown Solicitors held its fourth annual charity golf day at The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club this week, raising over £4,000 for the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre.

The firm once again welcomed a great response from the Nottinghamshire business community with 36 teams and a total of 144 individuals taking part, all of whom battled the tricky weather conditions of the day of driving rain and wind.

Patrick Wood, managing partner at Fraser Brown, said: “Our golf day is a highlight in our annual fundraising calendar and this year was once again a very enjoyable day. We continue to be thankful to the businesses and organisations, many of which are our clients, that turn out to support the event which is in aid of an incredibly important research facility here in Nottingham.

“I would like to thank the sponsors for their kind support of the event, the golf club who generously closed both courses for us and all who took part. Everyone had a fantastic time and thanks to their generosity we raised an impressive amount for the charity.”

John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, which is Fraser Brown’s charity of the year, is a purpose built scientific facility that aims to save lives and speed recovery by improving the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Stephen Knott from the charity, said: “Events like this take a great deal of organisation and we are grateful to Fraser Brown for its hard work on our behalf and to all those who played on the day. The funds raised are vital in enabling our life saving work at the research centre to continue.”
