A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 7-years in custody and has been given a deportation order for raping a woman at the Forest Recreation Ground in the evening of 9 October 2016.

Nasser Aldin Mohammed Ahmed, of Reigate Road, Basford, appeared at Derby Crown Court on Friday 7 April 2017 and was charged with rape.

Ahmed had attended Goose Fair earlier that night and drank an amount of vodka, before visiting the Market Square, purchasing food, attended the MOOG bar in Radford where he consumed alcohol and returned to Forest Recreation Ground.

Ahmed went onto have non-consensual sex with the woman, wrapping his arms around the woman’s throat, whilst she tried to escape.

She managed to struggle away from him to call for help. A passer-by then contacted the police.

The women, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded for Ahmed to stop but was ignored.

He pleaded not guilty throughout and was arrested on 11 October 2016.

DI Ash Wilson said: “The victim in this case was subject to a horrible sexual attack that evening in October. She was visibly upset and distressed and her bravery that night and throughout the ordeal has been unwavering.

“We hope that the knowledge that Ahmed will serve seven-years in custody will bring some sort of closure at the end of this difficult time.
