It will come as no surprise to those whose children have attended the nursery that Children 1st @ Plumtree has been shortlisted for the Indoor Learning Environment Award. Already much praised by Ofsted in its June 2017 inspection for its outstanding provision, the vibrant and highly stimulating environment has now been recognised by one of the leading business publications in the nursery sector.

Competition to receive this much sought-after award is fierce, with each of the six finalists from across the U.K. hoping to demonstrate to the judging panel that their nursery is head and shoulders above the rest in creating an environment that most inspires, excites and actively involves children in their learning, as well as celebrating their achievements.

Nursery Manager Louise Bucknall and Area Manager Alice Houldsworth now have the daunting task of being interviewed by three independent judges on 9th October at the Awards’ Judging Day to be held at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel.

For Louise, such an interview is a pleasure as she is delighted to share examples of how the children at Plumtree benefit from the multi-sensory wonderland which is their indoor learning environment. Louise and her staff are quite rightly proud of the range of opportunities for play inspired by dedicated zones for painting, junk modelling, role play, construction, quiet times and boisterous ones presented in the very well-resourced indoor space.

Louise comments, “This is very exciting for all of us at Plumtree and Children 1st. The company has made a major investment in refurbishing the nursery inside and out to create such a creative learning environment.  We know the high quality of the provision here makes our nursery an exciting place for the children to grow and learn and it’s a place where the children love to be.”

Louise and Alice are looking forward to meeting Ben Fogle, presenter, journalist and adventurer who has the pleasure of hosting the award ceremony on 25 November at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel. Fingers crossed that they receive the award-winning trophy for Indoor Learning Environment from Ben!
