National law firm Setfords Solicitors has opened new offices in West Bridgford following the huge success of one of its “consultant” lawyers who has embraced flexible and remote working.
Conveyancing lawyer Rose Davis, who grew up in West Bridgford and attended Rushcliffe School, works for herself but under the banner of Setfords Solicitors, which provides all administrative and secretarial support from its head office in Guildford.
Setfords is often referred to as a “dispersed” law firm and the company has over 180 consultant lawyers nationwide, most of them working from home. They are able to offer a more personal and competitively-priced service because they deal directly with their clients without the large overheads found in traditional firms.
Up until now Rose had also worked from home but being a consultant has proved so successful she now needs a main office to work on files and meet with clients. All administration and compliance support will still be provided by Setfords’ 60-strong support team in Guildford.
Rose said: “Working as a consultant lawyer has meant I can provide a level of service which my clients really appreciate, so much so that with repeat business and word-of-mouth it has grown faster than even I expected.
“This new office will allow me to better serve my clients and I am very excited about the opportunity.”
Setfords Solicitors CEO Chris Setford said: “We are delighted to be able to support Rose in her ambitions and allow her to grow her business under the Setfords brand.
“This is one of the great things about working as a consultant – you can make it as big or small as you like because you are in control of your career. There is no one setting billing targets or telling you how to run your business.”
Setfords Solicitors CEO Guy Setford added: “When we see someone like Rose having a better work-life balance and still being able to grow a business it gives us terrific satisfaction. This is what being a consultant lawyer is all about.”
Commercial Solicitor Jane Pearsey, who first started working with Setfords Solicitors in 2010, will also work out of the offices in Gordon Road. She also handles wills, probate and lasting powers of attorney.
Jane said: “I am delighted to be part of this expansion which will allow us to offer an even better service to our clients.”
CEO Guy Setford said: “Rose and Jane are highly regarded by all of their clients, and by us, and we have no doubt they are going to continue to expand and succeed.”
Rose was shortlisted for Individual Conveyancer of the Year in the Estate Agency of the Year Awards 2016, run in association with The Sunday Times and The Times.
Setfords has 13 offices and meeting rooms across the country including its main base in Guildford and an office in Chancery Lane in London, which opened last year.
The firm recently received a £3.75 million investment from the Business Growth Fund (BGF) after converting to an alternative business structure (ABS).
