Tram passengers injured after collision with car in Nottingham

A number of people on a Nottingham tram have been injured in the incident.

Nottinghamshire Police said:

‘We were called at 2.50pm to reports of a collision between a tram and a van. A few people on the tram have minor injuries but no serious injuries have been reported. The van driver also has sustained no injuries. The van is being removed shortly and work to remove the derailed tram may take some time. We are not sure how long the road will be closed for at this stage.’

A collision between a van and a tram has closed University Boulevard in Nottingham and caused delayed tram and bus services to and from the city.

The incident happened at around 2.45pm.

All traffic being diverted and no trams running between University Boulevard and the NG2 tram stop.

NET has released a statement stating apologising for any inconvenience.

A spokesman said: “For all passengers affected between University Boulevard and NG2 stops the orange line number 36 and navy line number 49 are currently accepting our tickets we do apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Trentbarton said: “There has been an accident between a van and a tram on University Boulevard, and the road is closed.

“We are diverting all services down Woodside Road, Priory Island & QMC in both directions. This will cause significant delays as we approach rush hour, so please be aware.”

Buses:

Orange 34, 35, 36; Navy 48, 49 and Grey 53 delayed until at least 8pm.
