The children took part in activities based on the anatomy of the eye and the sight test itself, as well as talking about a series of optical illusions and why our brains see things that aren’t necessarily what we are looking at.

‘The children have been learning about the body and staying healthy, and looking after your eyes is an important part of this,’ says Headteacher, Steve Arnold.

‘We invited the optical staff from Specsavers to share their knowledge about the eyes and how to care for them properly, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Going for an eye test can be daunting for young children, so it was beneficial for them to understand what is involved when they visit the optician.

‘I’d like to thank Amy and Lisa for an engaging and informative talk, which gave the children an important insight into eye health.’

‘We view education as an important factor in improving eye health in the community,’ explains store director, Stephen Rogers. ‘Our team has a huge amount of expertise and experience, and it’s fantastic to be able to share this to the benefit of the local area.
