Police called to disperse ‘100 people gathered’ at Nottingham street party

Officers were called to Top Valley last night after reports of a street party.

Around 100 people gathered in Yates Gardens at around 8.30pm. Officers quickly attended to disperse the crowds.

During the incident, a bottle was thrown and hit a police officer.

Declan Blacker, 27, of Nottingham was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and assault of a police officer. He has since been charged with both offences.

He sustained a minor injury from a police dog which bit his backside whilst he was being detained.

Police Constable Louise Palfrey is leading the investigation. She said: “Officers were quickly on the scene following the report and dispersed the crowd.

“One man was arrested after he assaulted a police officer. He has since been charged.

“Thankfully the officer suffered no injuries.”

Blacker is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on 14 July 2020.
