Officers responded quickly and made a thorough search of the area, arresting the person that matched the description given. The boy ran from police, but he was detained.

Inspector Kylie Westlake said: “Officers worked quickly to arrest the boy following the incident, thanks to their quick response they located him following enquiries at the scene.

“We know that incidents of this nature are a cause of concern and I’d like to offer some reassurance, that whilst our enquiries are at an early stage, we have made an arrest which is a positive first step.

“Our efforts will now focus on understanding the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

The boy remains in police custody.
