A secret cannabis farm made up of around 150 plants has been discovered above a Nottingham pub.
Police were called to the Horn in Hand, on Goldsmith Street, in the city centre, after a report from a gas company on Thursday morning (23 July).
Approximately 70 plants were spread across five rooms on the third floor, with around 80 more discovered in the roof space.
Officers also discovered a range of equipment used to power the grow and found that the electricity supply had been bypassed.
No one was found at the address, and the property was cordoned off while investigations continue.
Inspector Shakeel Rasul, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We are extremely pleased that this cannabis will not find its way onto the streets of Nottingham or the wider community, and would like to thank the gas company for bringing the grow to our attention.
“The grow will now be dismantled, and we will be looking to secure a closure order for the property to prohibit any unauthorised person from returning to the property while we continue to investigate.
“The electricity had been bypassed, which, as we repeatedly warn people, is incredibly dangerous, as it can result in a fire.
“Furthermore, drug supply is not a victimless crime – it is often linked to wider, harmful criminality that can have a serious impact on our communities.
“That is why we continue to dismantle operations such as this and track down those behind them, so that they can feel the full force of the law.”
The discovery comes as Operation Reclaim continues in Nottingham city centre.
Launched in May, the operation is a partnership approach to relentlessly target criminals who use the city centre to commit crime.
