Update: 20 tonnes of waste paper on fire in Colwick

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance.

10:40 am Updates from the scene on Private Road 2, Colwick. Eight fire engines remain with the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.

Please avoid Colwick Industrial Estate if possible, and close your doors and windows if downwind of the fire.

UPDATE: Ashfield’s High Volume Pump and the Water Carrier from Worksop Fire Station are now also in attendance, with fire engines from Collingham and Hucknall.

We are asking residents to keep doors and windows closed and avoid the area while we work to extinguish the fire.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service report a blaze at the Biffa Waste site, Private Road, Colwick.

The incident was called in at 8:36 am on Friday 15 April, crews from London Road, Carlton, Arnold, Highfields and Edwinstowe are at the scene.

A spokesperson said:

‘We are currently in attendance at a waste fire on Private Road, Colwick, where 20 tonnes of waste paper is on fire.

‘Crews from Carlton, London Road, Arnold, Highfields and Edwinstowe, including the Aerial Ladder Platform, are working to extinguish the fire.’
