Updated: 2,000 homes without power in The Meadows as fire crews attend substation fire

Power may not be restored until 3 am on Saturday morning.

  • All power was restored by 1 am on Saturday 18 November 

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said at 8:30 pm on Friday 17 November:

‘Fire crews have been dealing with an electrical substation fire on Doncaster Terrace in the Meadows, Nottingham.

‘Fire crews and National Grid are still on scene at this incident and electricity to some houses may be effected for up to 6 hours.’

National Grid said:

‘We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 6:34pm this evening and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible.’

Over 2,000 homes were without power at just after 7 pm, National Grid estimate that at 7:34 pm around 710 remain affected.’

The power company estimates the supplies to be restored by 3 am tomorrow morning.
