Testing

Testing is where we do a test to see who has Coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.

There were 395,436 tests reported on 19 November 2020.

Between 20 April and 19 November 2020, there have been 37,575,856 tests.

 

 Confirmed cases

A confirmed case is where a person has had a positive test result for Coronavirus.

There were 19,875 new people with a confirmed positive test result reported on 21 November 2020.

Between 31 January and 21 November 2020, there have been 1,493,383 people who have had a confirmed positive test result.

 

 

 Healthcare

Some people with Coronavirus have to go into hospital.

1,682 people with Coronavirus had to go into hospital on 17 November 2020.

Between 23 March and 17 November 2020, there have been 203,406 people who have had to go into hospital with Coronavirus.

There were 16,390 people in hospital with Coronavirus on 19 November 2020.

Some people who go to the hospital need to use a special device called a Mechanical Ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 1,421 Coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 20 November 2020.

 

 Deaths

Sadly, many people have died.

There were 341 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for Coronavirus reported on 21 November 2020.

Between 2 March and 19 November 2020, there have been 54,502 deaths within 28 days of a positive Coronavirus test.
