Channel 4 24 Hours in A&E marked its 10th year by relocating outside of London for the first time, to the Queen’s Medical Centre in 2021.
The documentary series ‘24 Hours in A&E’ offers viewers a look inside one of the country’s busiest accident and emergency departments.
A total of 24 episodes were filmed at the Queen’s Medical Centre by the production company, The Garden TV. Filming took place in our Emergency Department for 46 days straight.
‘24 Hours in A&E’ has become one of the most popular documentary series on Channel 4, having aired more than 250 episodes across 24 series.
During filming, the team were keen to reflect the people who live in our community. Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals said:
“We are incredibly excited that Channel 4 chose the Queen’s Medical Centre as the new home of their twice BAFTA nominated and Royal Television Society award-winning ‘24 Hours in A&E’.
“We have one of the biggest Major Trauma Centres in the country, and our Emergency Department treats over 600 patients every day.
“This will give us a real opportunity to show the dedication, passion and skill of our teams and the care and kindness shown to our emergency patients. We know there is a huge amount of pride in what we do, and we will be able to show the world (literally) the amazing individuals that make up Team NUH.”
24 Hours in A&E was the first broadcast in 2011 from King’s College Hospital in south London before moving to St George’s Hospital – also in south London – in 2014.
