80-year-old, Ron has been brought into the majors department after falling out of bed and injuring his head. While Dr Mana and her team race to determine whether he has a serious brain injury, family friend, Andra reveals how former truck driver Ron, became a carer for his wife after she was diagnosed with dementia.
In the minor injuries department 21-year-old, Jake has come in with an injured finger after he trapped it in a container door at work. During the treatment, Jake shares how, unexpectedly, being expelled from school turned out well for him in the end.
22-year-old professional carer, Evie has been admitted to ED after collapsing at work. As medics seek to determine the cause of her collapse, Evie reveals how swapping dreams of playing badminton at the Olympics for care work has benefitted her mental health. Evie is treated by Nurse Jess (pictured) who talks about her own stammer and her nursing career. She explains how a stammer has impacted on her life and how attending a specialist programme with other stammerers transformed it.
During September and October 2021, the Trust welcomed cameras into the Emergency Department at Queen’s Medical Centre for the first series to be filmed outside of London.
