£250,000 cannabis grow in a Mansfield house leads to jail sentence

A man has been jailed after officers shut down a large cannabis grow at a house in Mansfield.

Officers attended the semi-detached property in The Green, Mansfield Woodhouse, and seized 258 plants found inside which were spread across multiple rooms.

An array of electrical and growing equipment was also put beyond use.

Twenty-one-year old Heneri Dushku was spotted on the stairs and arrested on suspicion of production of a Class B drug.

Dushku, of no fixed address, was subsequently charged in relation to the grow which was discovered at around 10.40am on 21 March 2024.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was jailed for 10 months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday 13 June 2024.

Recorder Penelope Stanistreet-Keen told Dushku: “This was simply for financial gain. You have not sought to say that anyone pressured you, this was clearly financially motivated.”

Sergeant Jim Bray, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Cannabis grows like the one we shut down in this instance are a blight on society and bring nothing but misery to communities.

“We will always respond to any reports we receive of illegal drug activity, to ensure grows are seized and dismantled as soon as possible and those involved in this sort of criminality are held to account.

“We continue to encourage anyone who has suspicions of drug dealing or drug production in their area to contact us as soon as possible and we will act on any intelligence we receive.”

Information can be reported to the police on 101, or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
