Almost 300 cannabis plants have been discovered over the last five days following proactive action by officers.
The latest find was when officers were called to investigate an empty property after neighbours complained of a ‘funny smell’.
Officers were sent to Allendale Avenue, Aspley, at around 6pm last night (11 November 2020) after the landlord reported that he could not get into the property which was supposed to be empty.
When officers entered the property, they found 146 plants downstairs, in the upstairs bedrooms and in the attic.
In addition to this, further cultivations have been found in Bramble Close, Basford, where 80 plants were uncovered, 31 plants were found in Moor Road, Strelley, 20 plants were found in Marchwood Crescent, Leen Valley and eight plants were found in Whitechapel Street, Basford.
Sergeant Ian Johnson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The cultivation of cannabis is a serious crime and can often be linked to other serious offences. It’s great that the community are coming forward in addition to our proactive work to tackle this crime.
“We do not tolerate drugs as it has a negative impact on the community and we are keen to catch those responsible. In addition to this, the electric had been bypassed at the house we went to last night, which is very dangerous.
“We are making enquiries to establish who is responsible for growing the plants. If you have seen any suspicious activity around any of these addresses, please do get in touch”
