£30,000 improvements completed at Rushcliffe Country Park BMX track

A £30,000 refurbishment of the BMX track at Rushcliffe Country Park has been completed, with new safety features, improved riding surfaces and a dedicated area for spectators.

The 260-metre track, which was originally designed in 2008, has undergone a series of improvements carried out by specialist company Bike Track.

All track surfaces and features have been reinstated with fresh stone, helping to maintain the facility for riders of different abilities.

A new return path has also been created at the end of the track, allowing riders to make their way back to the start without travelling against the flow of other users.

The refurbishment includes a designated social and viewing area where visitors can watch riders using the more advanced sections of the track or take a break between sessions.

Knee-high railings have also been installed along sections of the track as part of the safety improvements.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, Councillor Jonathan Wheeler, said: “It’s great to see the track up and running for riders with these excellent new features and refurbishment.

“The improvements will help provide a better experience for users, while the new safety features and social area will make the facility more enjoyable for everyone who visits.

“I look forward to seeing local residents and visitors make the most of this upgraded track within one of our popular parks.”

Nottingham Outlaws BMX Club is among the groups benefiting from the investment and has already been using the refurbished track.

The club is also encouraging people interested in trying BMX riding for the first time to get in touch.
