30th Anniversary celebrations for leading Nottingham recruitment agency

When Capital One and Specsavers first set up large offices in Nottingham, they turned to Harper Recruitment Group to fill job vacancies.
They are just some of the companies, also including Boots, who have used a firm that has placed more than 100,000 temps and thousands of permanent staff over the past three decades.

As the Nottingham business, which also has offices in Leicester and Derby, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, it has set its sights on expanding its presence across the Midlands.

Managing director Jane Harper said: “Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with some fantastic companies and 30 years on, nothing has changed in that respect as evidenced by our recent win of a large online retailer based in the heart of Nottingham.

Ms Harper launched Harpers on November 16, 1987, in an office within the Old City House, in Maid Marian Way.

Following rapid expansion, it had several office moves to Wheeler Gate, Victoria Street and Friar Lane, before the firm settled into its current Talbot Street headquarters in 2006.

Reflecting on its launch, Ms Harper said: “Having worked for both a large national and a small privately owned firm, I saw a gap in the market for a professionally focused consultancy offering unrivalled local knowledge and the personal touch, coupled with the highest levels of corporate customer service.”

Harpers has provided staffing services for some of the region’s industry-leading organisations, including many blue-chip and global pharmaceutical companies, local and regional public services, and a host of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as owner-managed businesses.

For years, it was the sole commercial supplier for Boots, which has its head office in Beeston.

Today, the company specialises in the permanent, contract, temporary or interim roles of all levels of business support including office, finance, human resources and training, sales and marketing, and management and executive.

“We are proud to have very low staff turnover, and for the most part, when staff join our team, they very rarely leave,” she said.

“The average length of service at Harper Recruitment Group tends to be 10 years, and we treat our employees like family.
