£360,000 cannabis farms found in raid on two houses in a Wollaton street

Over £360,000 worth of cannabis has been seized and destroyed from two houses on the same street.

Police shut down not one but two cannabis farms after acting quickly on intelligence and raiding two properties across the road from one another.

More than 280 cannabis plants were found growing in the houses on either side of the street, while 21 large vacuum packs filled with dried cannabis and ready to be sold were seized as well.

A large amount of loose cannabis not bagged up yet was also found at the neighbouring properties in Ranelagh Grove, Wollaton, with the value of the drugs seized estimated to add up to at least £360,000.

All the plants have been taken away and destroyed following the raids, which took place on Thursday (3 February) and were led by the city west and city north Operation Reacher teams.

Daniel Odagiu, 50, of Ranelagh Grove, Wollaton, and both Franci Sollaku, 22, and Aurel Yzeiri, 25, of no fixed address, have all been charged with production of cannabis and have been remanded in custody.

Inspector Gordon Fenwick, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I’d like to commend officers from the City West Local Neighbourhood Policing Teams, supported by colleagues from Bulwell, for acting swiftly on intelligence and working together to dismantle these cannabis farms.

“It is a common misconception that cannabis production is a victimless crime, but quite frankly this couldn’t be further from the truth.

“It can ruin lives, plain and simple, and often has deeper links to organised crime, while also posing a very real fire risk to other neighbouring properties because of dangerous modifications to electrics, coupled with the intense heat generated by specialist growing equipment.

“We don’t want to see this illicit drug activity take place on our streets and we don’t want to see people in our communities impacted by this in any way, which is why we will continue to work tirelessly to take robust action against these criminals.”
