43-year-old man dies after Nottingham park run

A man has died after collapsing during the park run at Forest Rec on Saturday. 

Forest Rec Park Run posted on Facebook today,

‘You may be aware a parkrunner collapsed at Forest Rec yesterday. Several parkrunners attempted to resuscitate him, as did an ambulance crew. However we are very sorry to have to report the sad news that all efforts were unsuccessful.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with friends and family for their loss.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank all those who assisted yesterday.’

The man was taken to Nottingham’s Queens Medical Centre but later died according to police reports.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said,

“At approximately 10.30am yesterday Nottinghamshire Police were called by colleagues at Nottingham Queen’s Medical Centre following the death of a 43-year-old man.

“The man is understood to have been taking part in a run at the Forest Recreation Ground before he collapsed and was taken to hospital. Officers are not treating the death as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the coroner.”
