More than 50 roads across Nottinghamshire are due to receive resurfacing or patch repairs in July as part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s highways maintenance programme.

The council, working with highways partner Via East Midlands, has published its month-ahead schedule of planned roadworks, covering resurfacing schemes, patch repairs and a county-wide surface dressing programme continuing through the summer.

Resurfacing works are planned on routes including the A57 at East Markham and the Worksop Bypass in Bassetlaw, Nottingham Road in Southwell, Main Street in Gunthorpe, several roads in West Bridgford, and routes across Mansfield, Ashfield, Arnold, Gedling, Kimberley and Hucknall.

More than 70 roads are also due to be included in this summer’s surface dressing programme. The process involves applying stone chippings and bitumen to seal the road surface, helping to prevent water damage, cracks and potholes.

The programme includes sections of major routes such as the A57, A60, A606, A614, A617, A38, A612 and A610.

The July schedule also includes patch repairs in towns and villages across the county, with the council’s JCB Pothole Pro machines being used to target localised defects in areas including Rushcliffe, Newark and Sherwood, Mansfield and Ashfield, and Gedling.

Councillor Bert Bingham, Nottinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, said: “Improving the condition of our roads is a top priority for residents, road users and the council.

“Major resurfacing schemes have already been completed, and teams will continue working throughout the year to improve the network.”

Via will also continue its year-round maintenance programme, including cleaning highway gullies and drains, tree inspections and surface repairs.

As surface dressing is weather dependent, scheduled dates are subject to change.
