Police discovered thousands of pounds worth of cash stuffed down a man’s underpants after searching a vehicle in a supermarket car park.
Officers from the knife crime team acted on intelligence to make the stop around 2pm on Sunday (4 January).
They followed the car and blocked it into a parking space when it pulled into the Tesco store, in Station Road, Beeston.
Two men inside the car were searched and one was found to have around £5,000 concealed in his pants while also being in possession of three mobile phones.
The pair, aged 42 and 45, were both arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property.
Sergeant Matt Daley, of the knife crime team, said:
“When on patrol we often spot vehicles of interest and which intelligence suggests are being used for criminal activity.
“The occupants of this car were searched and one was found to have a considerable amount of cash concealed upon him.
“Stop searches are an important part of our role and we regularly see suspects trying to hide items in any way they can.
“A number of proactive force teams work hard all year round to prevent vehicles using the county’s road network for criminal activity.”
