£50,000 cannabis grow found in Hyson Green

A suspect has been arrested after police found 49 cannabis plants at an address.

Officers attended the property, in Colville Terrace, Hyson Green, at 1pm on Monday 2 June, after receiving intelligence that drug activity could be taking place inside.

The plants were discovered in a room at the property and seized, while the electricity was also found to have been bypassed.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class B controlled drug, abstracting electricity and using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear.

He has since been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

PC Tiffany Elliot, of the Berridge neighbourhood policing team, said:

“Cannabis production is not a victimless crime and can often be linked to serious violence and antisocial behaviour.

“These offences can also pose a severe fire risk to houses in the neighbouring area, due to the dangers caused by bypassing electricity.

“We are committed to tackling drug production in city central and will continue to respond quickly to reports of drug activity.”
