£60,000 cash stolen in Nottingham city shop burglary

Three suspects have been charged after tens of thousands of pounds were stolen in a burglary.

A safe containing around £60,000 in cash was stolen from a Hyson Green store during the  night.

The shutters of the Radford Road shop were forced open by intruders, who then went in and took what they wanted.

Among the items stolen in the break-in was a safe containing bundles of cash, which was wheeled out the store using a trolley.

A computer and a CCTV box was also pulled out and taken during the incident, which happened around 3am on 6 June this year.

Detectives have been investigating the burglary since then and managed to take the number of suspects charged up to three last week.

That’s after Saman Hamadi, 36, and Ardalan Mahmood, 46, were both identified as persons of interest and charged with burglary.

Both men appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (4 October), where they were remanded into custody.

Hamadi, of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, and Mahmood, of Whitehead Road, Birmingham, are due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 31 October.

A third suspect, Haiwa Mohammed, will also appear before the same court on 15 October – having himself been charged back in August in connection with the 6 June break-in.

The 40-year-old was additionally charged with two more burglaries at separate Nottingham stores on 20 May.

Mohammed, of Sandwell, West Midlands, has also been remanded into custody ahead of his next court appearance.

Detective Constable Jessica Dennis, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We’ve been conducting extensive inquiries since this happened and are determined to bring justice for the shop owners targeted.

“As you can imagine, they were understandably extremely upset about this incident, so we hope news of these three charges provides them with some small degree of comfort.”
