66% of eligible Rushcliffe businesses received coronavirus business grant support

Rushcliffe Borough Council has now paid out vital COVID-19 business rate grant support to over 66% of eligible businesses across the Borough.

To date, the authority has paid out nearly £12m in grants to over 1,000 small businesses and those in the retail, leisure and hospitality industries.

It is continuing to work hard to respond and connect with more business owners to work through more complex grant applications and ensure all those who are eligible receive the support they are entitled to.

This has included redeploying staff to support this work in recent weeks to ensure the process is being completed as quickly as possible to try and alleviate the pressure faced by local businesses.

Those yet to claim the support should have received a phone call or a letter from the Council but applicants are asked to get in touch on 0115 981 9911 if support has yet to be outlined and should meet the criteria of the scheme outlined in more detail at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/businesscoronavirus

The payments available are £10,000 grants for properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or less and £25,000 grants for properties with a rateable value of more than £15,000 but less than £51,000 with some exceptions operating in the retail, leisure and hospitality industries.

Leader of the Council Cllr Simon Robinson said: “We want to assure businesses that we are working our way through the enquiries we have received and will respond as soon as we can.

“The majority have now received the support. The team are focusing on more complex cases and some can take more time to resolve. If you have tried to make contact and not heard back yet please bear with us as we work our way through the applications.

“We appreciate this is a very challenging time for everyone and we are committed to ensuring all eligible businesses receive the grant.

“Business owners need to contact us on 0115 981 9911 as soon as possible. For all the latest information on this and all the support for businesses, our services and communities are available at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk.
