'The address and neighbouring properties have been made safe, and the investigation continues.'

On Saturday, 1 February Nottinghamshire Police received a call to an address on Ollerton Road, Ordsall, from a power company expressing concerns that the electricity had been bypassed.

Police said:

‘Officers gained entry and discovered a large cannabis grow.

‘On Sunday, 2nd February 2025, the East Bassetlaw Neighbourhood Policing Team attended the address and seized 720 mature cannabis plants.

‘In addition to the plants, growing equipment and electronic devices were also recovered for forensic analysis.

‘The address and neighbouring properties have been made safe, and the investigation continues.’

Sergeant Pearson, from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team, who led the operation at the address, says:

“This was a substantial cannabis grow, and the bypassing of the electricity could have had serious consequences for the neighbouring properties.

“Bypassing electricity is extremely dangerous and, unfortunately, a common practice with organised grows. We urge the community to contact us on 101, anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or online should you have any concerns about properties being used in this manner.”
