Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an 85-year-old man was robbed after leaving his local pub in Radford last night (Tuesday 11 December 2018).
The man left The Plough in St Peters Street at about 6.45pm. As he was walking home along Churchfield Lane, about a quarter-of-an-hour later, he noticed a man walking in front of him who kept stopping and turning around.
The offender slowed down until the victim caught up with him before turning around and pushing him to the ground.
The suspect then grabbed the man’s shopping bag before running off down an alleyway. The bag contained the victim’s house keys, some shopping items, a small quantity of cash and a white Samsung tablet.
The victim wasn’t injured but has been left extremely shocked and shaken by what happened
The offender is white, about 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build and was wearing pale jeans/trousers and a dark-coloured jacket with the hood up.
Detective Sergeant Kylie Westlake said: “The victim wasn’t injured but has been left extremely shocked and shaken by what happened.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, including checking CCTV footage, and we’re appealing for anyone with any information about this robbery to get in touch.
“Two people stopped to help the victim and quite a few people were walking or driving by so if they saw anything or have any dashcam footage which may help our enquiries I’d urge them to call us.
“Officers will be patrolling the area to provide reassurance to the local community and we’d like to thank them for their continued support.”
Anyone who has any information about the robbery is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 789 of 11 December 2018, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
