Five arrests after reports of fight with weapons in Aspley

Police have arrested five suspects after responding to reports of a group of people armed with weapons during a disturbance in Aspley.

Officers were called to Robins Wood Road just after 3.35pm yesterday (Wednesday 4 March 2020).

It was reported that a number of people got out of a blue Volkswagen Golf armed with weapons.

No reports were received of any injuries.

Police tracked a car believed to have been involved in the incident to Bilborough.

After it came to a stop the occupants fled on foot but were quickly detained by officers after a brief foot chase.

Three men, aged 27, 24 and 22, and two women, aged 22 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of affray and remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Ed Cook, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We treat all incidents involving weapons extremely seriously and we are working hard to understand the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“We have recovered a second car, a red Seat Ibiza, which we believe was involved in this disturbance and our enquiries are ongoing to trace other people who were involved.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, who have not yet come forward, and any drivers who may have recorded dashcam footage of the incident to please get in touch with us.”
