A suspect was arrested shortly after two men were reported to have been threatened with a knife.
Police were called shortly after 3am on Tuesday (18 January) to Upper Parliament Street in Nottingham city centre.
Officers rushed to the scene and detained a suspect.
The victims, both aged in their early twenties, were unharmed.
A 41-year-old man has since been charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon, threatening a person with an sharply pointed object and a public order offence.
The suspect from Bestwood, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday) and was bailed to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 16 February.
Detective Sergeant Louise Bradford, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Offences involving weapons cause a huge amount of distress to victims and we will always respond to them as a priority – doing whatever it takes to bring offenders to justice.”
