Nottingham: Sink hole closes city street

A road in Nottingham city centre is closed both ways.

Transport Nottingham said:

‘Upper Parliament Street is currently closed due to a collapsed culvert (large water pipe) which was discovered by Severn Trent Water who were investigating a sewer blockage.

‘The collapsed underground pipe is causing the road to sink so it was immediately closed for safety reasons.’

‘The closure is impacting bus services – please check before you travel if your service usually uses Upper Parliament Street. We’ll keep you up to date once we hear from Severn Trent on how long they expect the repair to take.’
