Bomb disposal teams carry out controlled explosion in West Bridgford

It’s reported that a suspicious package found in a Nottingham city incident was dealt with on The Hook in West Bridgford.

The Friends of the Hook group in Lady Bay posted:

‘If you wondered what the loud bang was at 7.30 pm on Friday 26 July… It was unexploded ordnance which had been found in Nottingham canal.

‘It was brought to The Hook for a safe, controlled explosion with sandbags, where people could be kept well away. All safe now.’

A police cordon was in place near Nottingham Train Station while officers and partner agencies investigate a suspicious package during the late afternoon on Friday

Station Street, Canal Street, Middle Hill, Midland Train Station and Trent Street were closed while officers attended the scene.

As a precaution, surrounding buildings were evacuated.

The incident caused some traffic issues, with the rail and tram network  affected for some time.
