Burglary suspect arrested in Nottingham city centre pawn shop

A suspected intruder was arrested in a pawn shop the day after a burglary in Sherwood.

Thousands of pounds worth of property was stolen from Sherwood Business Centre on Tuesday (7 October) morning.

An intruder smashed a window and broke into the building, before helping themselves to various items, just after 2am.

Various electrical items, including a karaoke machine, as well as power tools and alcohol were taken during the incident.

After reviewing available CCTV and conducting local inquiries, police discovered some of the property had been sold at a pawn shop.

Officers attended the Nottingham city centre shop, around 5pm on Wednesday (8 October), at which point they located and detained a suspect.

Police also managed to recover a speaker, projector and doorbell camera – all suspected to have been taken during Tuesday’s burglary.

A 42-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods.

PC Ruby Trigger, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“The owner of the property targeted in this burglary has understandably been left very upset about what happened.

“Bearing this in mind, we’ve been determined to get them answers as soon as possible, and have since managed to arrest a suspect.

“We’ve also managed to recover items we suspect were taken during this break-in, which we hope will bring the victim some small degree of comfort.”
