Keyworth Parish Council objects to Bunny Lane development changes – petition launched

Keyworth Parish Council has raised objections to a proposed development on the corner of Bunny Lane, following the applicant’s decision to refer the scheme to the Planning Inspector.

The appeal relates to a request to increase the height of the building by adding a third floor, which would create eight one-bedroom apartments. The Parish Council has stated that it considers the proposal to be an overdevelopment of the site and inconsistent with the scale and character of the surrounding area.

In its objection, the Council argues that the additional height and number of dwellings would have a negative impact on the appearance of the locality and would not reflect the rural character of the village. Concerns have also been expressed about increased pressure on parking provision, local roads, and other infrastructure, as well as the potential effect on the amenity of nearby residents.

The Council has further warned that approval of the proposal could set a precedent for similar developments, potentially leading to a gradual change in the character of the village from a low-rise rural environment to a more urban setting.

Residents are being encouraged to support the Council’s position by signing a petition opposing the development. The Parish Council says community feedback is an important part of the planning process and will be considered as part of the appeal.
