Wednesday is expected to be a wet and windy day across Nottinghamshire, with persistent rain developing from mid-morning and continuing through much of the afternoon and early evening.
Early morning
The day will start mostly dry but cloudy, with a brief brighter spell possible around sunrise. Rain chances will be low early on, generally around 10 to 20 per cent. Temperatures will begin at around 3°C to 5°C, feeling cool in a light south-easterly breeze of 8 to 9 mph. Any brightness will be short-lived as cloud thickens through the morning.
Midday
By late morning and into midday, rain will become widespread, with a high likelihood of steady rainfall developing. Rain probabilities rise sharply to 70 to 90 per cent, and conditions will turn increasingly breezy. Temperatures will climb to around 7°C to 8°C, but strengthening south-easterly winds of 13 to 15 mph, with gusts exceeding 30 mph, will make it feel cooler.
Afternoon
The afternoon will be wet and blustery, with periods of persistent rain continuing across much of the county. Rainfall may be heavy at times, particularly during early to mid-afternoon. Temperatures will reach around 9°C, but strong south-easterly winds of 16 to 17 mph, with gusts peaking between 35 and 36 mph, will add to the unsettled feel and could cause difficult conditions in exposed areas.
Evening
During the evening, rain will gradually ease in intensity, though showers remain possible, particularly earlier in the evening. Rain chances fall from around 70 per cent to closer to 30 per cent by late evening. Temperatures will hold near 9°C before slowly dipping later on. Winds will remain strong from the south-east at around 13 to 15 mph, with gusts still close to 30 mph, bringing a breezy and damp end to the day.
