Man who targeted several Nottingham bars and shops jailed for 30 months

A man who carried out a series of burglaries at bars and businesses across Nottingham has been jailed for two and a half years.

Reece Wheat, 29, formerly of Coach Road, Ripley, admitted a total of ten offences including multiple burglaries and thefts committed between October and December last year.

Wheat first carried out two thefts at a store in Nottingham city centre on 26 October 2025. He then went on to commit a series of burglaries at bars and other businesses across the city between 25 November and 11 December.

Two of the burglaries took place on 28 November and 1 December at Nottingham bars, where thousands of pounds worth of cash and valuables were stolen. During enquiries, officers recovered Red Bull cans left at the premises which were later examined for forensic evidence.

Samples taken from the cans matched Wheat and linked him to the offences. CCTV footage also showed him inside the premises.

Wheat committed a further burglary at another Nottingham bar on 12 December. On that occasion he again took cash from the till but was spotted and detained by officers shortly afterwards.

He was subsequently charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of theft relating to the October store incidents.

Wheat pleaded guilty to those five offences on 13 December and was remanded in custody.

While he was in custody, officers linked him to five additional burglaries at shops and businesses across Nottingham which took place between 25 November and 11 December. During those offences cash, alcohol and a number of high-value e-scooters were stolen.

Wheat later pleaded guilty to those further offences at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 4 March.

He was sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday 6 March to two years and six months in prison.

PC Madison Hayes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said officers had been able to link Wheat to the offences through forensic evidence recovered at two of the burglary scenes.
