A man who stole around £10,000 worth of watches and jewellery during a break-in at a Sutton-in-Ashfield jewellers has been jailed.
Kieron Millin, 45, of no fixed address, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (6 March) after pleading guilty to burglary.
The break-in happened at about 2.45am on 12 February. CCTV showed Millin smashing a window to enter the shop before breaking a glass cabinet and taking watches and jewellery valued at around £10,000. He also removed the till before leaving the premises.
Police officers reviewing the CCTV footage later recognised Millin. At around 9:50 am the same morning, officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s county priority tasking team stopped him while he was cycling through Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Millin was wearing the same clothing seen in the burglary footage. Officers also found one of the stolen watches and several pieces of jewellery in his possession.
When first questioned, Millin denied involvement. The interaction was recorded on police body-worn cameras. He later pleaded guilty to burglary when he appeared before magistrates on 13 February and was remanded into custody.
Sergeant Jonny Groves, of Nottinghamshire Police, said officers were able to identify Millin after reviewing CCTV footage and locate him in the area shortly afterwards.
