Nottinghamshire weather for Sunday 15 March

A breezy and increasingly unsettled day is expected on Sunday 15 March, with a cool start followed by strengthening winds and rain spreading across the area through the afternoon and evening.

EARLY MORNING
The day will begin mostly dry with some patchy cloud and occasional brighter spells. Temperatures will start around 4°C, with some areas briefly close to 1°C early in the morning. Winds will already be fresh from the south-south-west at around 7 to 9 mph, with gusts between 18 and 22 mph. The chance of rain will remain low at below five per cent through the early morning hours.

MIDDAY
Cloud will thicken through the late morning and midday period as the risk of rain increases. Temperatures will gradually rise from around 7°C to about 9°C by midday. Winds from the south-south-west will strengthen further to around 14 to 16 mph with gusts approaching 34 to 35 mph, giving a noticeably breezy feel. Rainfall chances will increase to around 50 per cent during this period.

AFTERNOON
Rain will become more widespread through the afternoon as the unsettled weather moves in. Temperatures will reach around 11°C but it will feel cooler in the strengthening winds. Southerly winds will remain strong at around 16 to 17 mph with gusts between 34 and 37 mph. The likelihood of rain will increase significantly, reaching between 80 and 95 per cent by mid to late afternoon.

EVENING
Rain will continue into the evening with showers or longer spells of rain likely. Temperatures will gradually fall from around 10°C early in the evening to about 5°C by late evening. Winds will remain brisk from the west-south-west at around 11 to 14 mph with gusts between 26 and 33 mph. Rain chances will remain high through much of the evening before easing slightly later in the night.
