NG Block Management secures fire cladding safety scheme funding for River Crescent project

NG Block Management has announced a major milestone for residents at River Crescent, Nottingham, after successfully securing funding through the Cladding Safety Scheme to deliver essential external wall remediation works.

Since assuming management of the building in March 2023, NG Block Management has taken action to address critical fire safety concerns and ensure compliance with modern regulatory standards.

From the outset, the team responded to a fire risk assessment identifying issues with the external wall system, implementing a waking watch and overseeing a full upgrade of the building’s fire alarm system. This also enabled a transition in evacuation strategy from “stay put” to simultaneous evacuation, significantly enhancing resident safety.

With immediate risks mitigated, NG Block Management progressed plans for long-term remediation. As River Crescent leaseholders qualify as protected leaseholders under the Building Safety Act 2022, the team successfully applied to the Cladding Safety Scheme to secure funding support. Initial funding approval allowed the formation of a specialist project team and advancement into the design and tender stages.

Following months of co-ordination and regulatory engagement, full approval has now been granted by the Building Safety Regulator. Works are set to commence shortly, with scaffolding scheduled for the first elevation in the coming weeks.

This achievement reflects a collaborative effort across NG’s trusted consultant and contractor network, including BEFS Ltd (fire engineering), Boothe King (structural engineering), CEB Services (principal contractor), and Craig Foster Partners (architects).

Jamie Pervin, Facilities Management Surveyor at NG Block Management, said: “We’re delighted to have secured this vital funding for River Crescent. This has been a complex and demanding project from day one, but our priority has always been the safety and wellbeing of residents. Achieving approval from the Cladding Safety Scheme and the Building Safety Regulator is a significant step forward, and we’re excited to now move into the delivery phase with a strong, experienced project team in place.”

NG Block Management remains committed to delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality residential environments, and this milestone marks another important step in supporting building safety across its portfolio.
