West Bridgford: Astrophysics, architecture and street art clubs for young people this May half-term

Macademia’s May Half-Term Clubs Bring Astrophysics, Architecture and Street Art to West Bridgford and Sherwood.

Macademia is bringing unique and creative half-term clubs to West Bridgford and Sherwood this May, designed especially for curious and ambitious young people across Nottingham.

Running from 25–29 May, from 10:00–15:00 each day, the clubs offer three inspiring strands: cutting-edge Astrophysics in West Bridgford, a high-energy Street Art club in Sherwood, and a hands-on Architecture and Model Making studio in West Bridgford. All materials are provided, and sessions are designed to feel more like stepping into a real studio or lab than a classroom.

The Astrophysics pathway is led by Dr Youssef Abdulghani, a Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, whose background in astrophysics and AI helps students explore the universe with real scientific depth, as well as imagination. Young people fascinated by space, black holes, planets, and futuristic technologies will have the chance to experience science in a genuinely inspiring and accessible way.

Teenagers who prefer to create on the streets rather than among the stars can join the hugely popular Street Art club in Sherwood, guided by professional tutors Matilda and Kyren, where they experiment with style, colour, large-scale visual work, and creative storytelling in a safe and structured environment.

For budding designers, the Architecture and Model Making club in West Bridgford introduces the basics of architectural thinking, model building, sketching, and portfolio preparation, giving children a taste of how professional architects develop and present ideas. It is ideal for those considering creative GCSEs, A-levels, or longer-term pathways such as Macademia’s Young Professionals Academy, which connects young people with real-world careers through extended projects and portfolio-building experiences.

At the heart of Macademia is a simple ethos: early and authentic exposure to professional fields helps children discover what excites them, build confidence, and produce work they are genuinely proud of. With small groups, expert tutors, and a growing reputation for inspiring Nottingham’s young creatives and thinkers, these half-term clubs offer families a powerful mix of fun, focus, creativity, and future-ready learning.

Sessions run daily from 10:00–15:00, with all materials included.
