Residents in Ruddington are being urged to remain vigilant after a report of a man knocking on doors and offering to replace locks for cash.
Ruddington Parish Council said it had received a report of a lone man calling at homes in the Shrimpton Court area.
When challenged, the man is alleged to have become aggressive before walking off in the direction of Moor Lane.
Police have been notified and residents are being advised not to hand over any money to the individual.
The parish council has also asked people to check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours as a precaution.

Anyone concerned, or who sees suspicious behaviour in the area, should contact police on 101 or 999 in the case of an emergency.
