Hundreds of far-right linked stickers removed across West Bridgford

Hundreds of stickers linked to a far-right extremist network have been removed after appearing across West Bridgford.

Rushcliffe Borough Council said it acted after reports from local ward councillors and residents about stickers placed in public areas.

The stickers were reported to be linked to Active Club England, described by Rushcliffe MP James Naish as “a far-right extremist network”.

Mr Naish said he had been made aware of the issue by Cllr Dora Polenta.

He said: “I was made aware this morning by Cllr Dora Polenta of the sudden appearance of hundreds of stickers across West Bridgford linked to Active Club England, a far-right extremist network.

“Since Cllr Polenta raised the issue with both my office and Rushcliffe Borough Council, I am pleased to hear that the Council is acting quickly and has committed to removing the stickers.

“Thank you to Cllr Polenta for bringing this to our attention, and to Cllr Neil Clarke and Council officers for their swift and effective response.

“Rushcliffe is a welcoming, diverse and tolerant community. People from different backgrounds, beliefs and traditions live alongside one another with decency, respect and understanding.

“Attempts to spread hatred, extremism and division have no place here.”

Cllr Hetvi Parekh ( Deputy Mayor of Rushcliffe and Edwalton ward councillor Rushcliffe Borough Council ) said in a statement:

‘I have become aware of a number of stickers linked to Active Club England that have appeared in Edwalton.

‘I am pleased to confirm that officers are working as quickly as possible to identify and remove these materials.

‘There is no place for hate, extremism, or division in our community. Edwalton, like the wider Rushcliffe borough, is a welcoming and inclusive place where people from all backgrounds, beliefs and cultures should feel safe, respected and valued.

‘Attempts to spread messages of intolerance do not reflect the values of our community. We are stronger when we stand together in mutual respect and reject efforts to sow fear or division.

‘If anyone spots further stickers or materials of this nature, please report them to Rushcliffe Borough Council so they can be removed promptly.

‘Thank you to residents who have already raised this issue, and to council officers for their swift action.’

Rushcliffe Borough Council has worked to remove the stickers placed across the borough, and the MP has reiterated that residents should report any further stickers to the authority.

A Rushcliffe Borough Council spokesperson said: “We responded quickly to the reports from local ward councillors and residents on the stickers appearing in public places.

“Our teams have been working to remove them and residents are encouraged to report any further stickers they see so they can be dealt with.”

Residents can report stickers or other items placed on public property to Rushcliffe Borough Council.
