Work to start next week on new toilets and visitor facilities at Cotgrave Country Park

Work is due to start later this month on a series of improvements at Cotgrave Country Park.

Nottinghamshire County Council said the work will begin on Monday, 16 June, and is expected to take around eight weeks to complete.

The improvements include the installation of two new waterless toilets, a timber-clad cabin, and a surfaced area for the coffee van.

The new facilities will be located in the “heart” of the park, opposite the Green Roof Shelters area and next to where Ginger & Blue currently serves coffee.

The new toilets will be accessible and are designed to operate without water, electricity or chemicals. Instead, they use the sun and wind to evaporate and dry waste material, although they will still need to be emptied periodically.

The council said the intention is for the toilets to be open daily for public use, although they may initially operate only at certain advertised times.

A new timber-clad cabin will also be installed to provide a small indoor base for the site manager, volunteers and the Friends of Cotgrave Country Park.

The cabin is expected to be made available for hire by other groups in due course, for meetings or activities taking place within the park.

A new surfaced area will also be created for the coffee van, providing a dry area for it to park, along with an electric hookup. Permanent seating will be installed nearby.

The improvements are being funded mainly through developer contributions from recent nearby developments at Hollygate Park and Mill Lane.

During the works, a temporary access road will be created from the end of Chestnut Drive to the works area. The works area itself will be fenced off from the public.

The county council said it would aim to minimise disruption and apologised for any inconvenience while the work is carried out.

The project is being managed by Arc Partnership. A full-time project manager will be on site during the works and will be available to respond to any concerns, with contact details displayed on the site notice.
